Editor’s Letter – December 2021, Festive Edition!
Happy holidays everyone!
It’s been a moment, hasn’t it? I hope you are all keeping well and safe during this time. In what has been another challenging year, we have finally reached the end. However, much like last year there is a sense of doom and gloom in the air.
Covid-19 has changed the world, it has also presented us with challenges we have never faced before. Masks have become the norm, social distancing introduced, and it has gone as far as preventing us from seeing loved ones. It goes without saying that the impact this has had mentally on countless people is beyond comprehendible.
For a second holiday season in a row, people are unfortunately unable to see loved ones. This is a time to spend with those you hold closest to you, yet some are unable to do so. If you are one of those individuals, please do your best to keep smiling and know you will see your loved ones soon. As hard as it is to see the light at the end of the tunnel, it is there, I promise!
Please check up on your loved ones! Call, text or even facetime them! While some cannot be there in-person with their loved ones, there are other ways to keep people company and spread as much festive joy as possible.
It is important that we pay tribute and thank the frontline workers not just for this season, but for the entire year! Also, thank you to all the volunteers who spend their free time helping others and keeping the world going through such turbulent times.
Finally, a massive thanks to the core team, writers and readers of Mental Magazine! 2021 was a great year for us, but the hard work does not stop now! Take care all! See you in 2022!
