I’m sure many of you reading this have scrolled through social media one day and have seen yet another friend or relative telling the world how they are breaking lockdown rules. Showing off their attendance at a party or getting yet another lockdown haircut.
A haircut might not seem like the biggest issue in the world, or even the biggest concern for the risk of Covid-19 cases rising. But, it is still an unnecessary risk.
A hairdresser going into someone’s home to cut their hair, is more than likely visiting numerous other homes to do the same job. Ultimately, increasing the risk to their clients household’s health, as well as their own. The unnecessary risk involved here shows one thing. People don’t care.
People don’t care if their actions not only affect themselves and their households, but the people outside. The people they work alongside each day, the people in the shops and the workers on the frontline.
People don’t care if their actions can cause them to catch and transmit the Covid-19 virus. Transmit it to people who could be at a larger risk of the worse effects of the virus. A virus which can and does kill people.
People don’t care if their actions could cause yet another spike in Covid-19 case. As well as a spike in deaths from Covid-19 and complications.
If people don’t work together in the attempt to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. We will be back at square one yet again, looking down the barrel at lockdown four. More people will suffer from the virus, as well as the other effects that the pandemic has had on everyone’s day-to-day lives.
A haircut is not more important than a life. A statement which should not need to be said.
