
The LGBTQIA+ community goes by many names and acronyms, here at Mental Magazine we tend to use LGBTQIA+. But how many are there and what do they mean?
Let’s start of easy: LGBT: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender. LGBT has been used for the 90s and is easily the most common acronym used.
GLBT: Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender.
LGBTQ: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning. The Q can mean either Queer or Questioning.
LGBTIQ: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer/Questioning.
LGBTQIA: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex and Asexual.
LGBTTQQIAAP: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Transsexual, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Ally and Pansexual.
LGBTQIAP2: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, Pansexual and Two-Spirit.
WLW: Women loving Women.
MLM: Men loving Men.
SGM: Sexual and Gender Minorities.
* or + after the phrase: Additional, unreferenced identities which are related to the community.
